====== SALVAGE SPACE: TRADING ====== ===== Securing Trade Goods ===== Areas have (or produce) some resources or goods in abundance but lack others. Production and consumption affect supply and demand for these areas. Goods may be purchased and sold using barter or agreed on items of value such as gems, precious metals, or currencies including information. The Trader may face hazards at any or every stage of the effort to search for trade goods, procure them, and get them to and from shipment ports. Just finding resources and goods can generate conflict as existing rivals look to keep control of their lucrative trades. ===== Moving Trade Goods ===== After securing resources or goods to trade, they must be moved from the area of supply to the area of demand. To be profitable, the trader must have the capability to move resources and goods such as walking, carts, wagons, trucks, ships, aircraft, interface vehicles, space craft, or starships. Otherwise the trader must hire or create the means at their own expense, such as Marco Polo's famous trade route. Owning, leasing, chartering, hiring transport for cargo each comes with bonuses and penalties to the bottom-line profitability of trade. Most successful trade takes good advantage of any efficient methods of movement or flow between the areas of supply and demand. ===== Getting Paid ===== Sometimes, even just getting paid can become the toughest part of the job. Hijackers and other criminals, greedy brokers, shifty dockworkers, unreliable equipment, unexpected circumstances, and more lay in wait to steal away shares of the profits from trading. Take a methodical approach to trade, keep a wary eye on security, and stay alert for any opportunity to capitalize on. ▲ [[:Chronology:]] ~~DISCUSSION~~
