Ability Sources

According to scholars and references, the sources of supernatural abilities may greatly shape how and when those abilities can manifest which may become even more difficult during a conflict.

Natural Magic

The ability to directly draw upon or control the forces of nature may vary depending on the terrain and environment and possible latent stores of “power” within them.

Divine Magic

Deities may bless their followers with supernatural abilities depending on the intent of the casting and piety of the caster.

Divine entities may intercede in the conflict on behalf of their followers depending on the circumstance.

Spiritual Magic

Spirits may grant or withhold their supernatural abilities to their followers or allies for their own enigmatic reasons.

Rarely a spirit may manifest directly to participate in a conflict.

Witchcraft or Dark Magic

Demons and devils may unleash their dark or nefarious abilities on behalf of their followers in return for payment in some form.

Demons and devils may manifest themselves to prevent losing a conflict in their interest which may exact severe punishment or payment from those who failed to prevail in the conflict on their behalf in the first place.

Ritual Magic

Supernatural abilities may manifest as the result of focused and coordinated action by a like-minded group of casters, usually through a focus person such as a seer.

Additional equipment may aid spell casters invoking their abilities:

These aids may unlock the ability to active the Special Effect (SFX) or may provide a bonus when activated.

Altering Reality

Altering aspects of reality during conflict can provide surprising and adaptive ways to influence the outcome which traditional strategy and tactics find difficult to anticipate.

Some of the aspects of reality which supernatural abilities claim to influence or alter include the following:

AETHER
Altering the aether itself in conflict, including aspects of the void of space.

AIR
Creating, altering, or removing the very air.

This can have serious effects on space craft and stations.

EARTH

Creating, altering, or removing earth and stone.

Reshape the terrain including rocky moons, rings, and asteroids.

FIRE

Creating, altering, or removing fire including heat.

It is very cold in space, which makes this ability potentially a lifesaving one.

WATER

Creating, altering, or removing water.

Includes reshaping the terrain of icy moons and comets.

PLANTS

Creating, altering, summoning, controlling, or removing plant life.

Extremely useful in space craft and station life support as well as biome-scaping.

ANIMALS

Creating, altering, summoning, controlling, or removing animal life.

Extremely useful in biome-scaping.

POISONS

Creating, altering, or removing poisons and other toxins including radiation exposure.

ACIDS

Creating, altering, or removing caustic substances and their effects.

LIGHT

Creating or altering the amounts and qualities of light.

May help with ambushes, surprise, and escape as well as provide distractions during conflict itself.

DARK

Creating or altering the amounts and qualities of darkness.

May help with ambushes, surprise, and escape as well as provide distractions during conflict itself.

GOOD

Creating or summoning good-intentioned thoughts or allies.

EVIL

Creating or summoning ill-intentioned thoughts or allies.

LIFE

Creating and restoring life where lost.

DEATH

Creating or increasing death and decay where not found.

THOUGHT

Creating, altering, or removing thoughts and feelings.

TIME

Altering, stopping, or reversing the flow of time.
