SALVAGE SPACE: NETWORKS
For millenia, humans have increased their capabilities through use of tools.
For centuries, humans have improved their tools by adding intelligence and communications to them, resulting in ubiquitous interlinked and interdependent semi- and fully-autonomous devices.
Equipment, vehicles, and structures may incorporate one or more networks of devices within them.
The Self-Organizing Clustered Information Access Layers (SOCIAL) protocols allow devices and appropriate synthetics to seamlessly mesh with networked devices.
Nodes
There are five general categories which networked devices fall into.
Access Nodes: allow people to interface to networks and networks to interface to people.
Data Nodes: Store information such as databases, event logs, files, media, and memories.
Interface Nodes: Connect the network to external devices.
Processing Nodes: Runs software to visualize, analyze, and manipulate data.
Routing Nodes: Connect processing and data nodes to others.
