SALVAGE SPACE: RECONSTRUCTING

Another time-consuming constant activity Adventurers can engage in during their downtime is tear-down and reconstruction of gear.

Hardware requires maintenance, and occasional rebuilds can replace parts that wear most before they break down.

Life support systems including space suits also contain components which wear and require regular replacement to maintain function.

Gear may contain its own reminder or indicator systems or the Guide may provide occasional clues that a given piece of gear has reached a point where spending time rebuilding or reconstructing it makes sense.

The longer a piece of gear goes without necessary regular maintenance and reconstruction, the more likely it may suffer a breakdown, just when it's needed most.

Reconstruction does require some expense beyond just time, such as sourcing specific replacement parts for items like filters, seals, or other expendable, serviceable modules.
