Metric Time

Moving out of the Sol system, the Alliance ultimately adopted Metric Time3).

Metric Time divides a day into 10 metric hours of 100 metric minutes of 100 metric seconds each.

Spacecraft and stations typically divide the 10 metric hour day into 5 seperate shifts of 2 metric hours each.

Local “midnight” occurs at 10.00MT, with first shift from 10.00MT, through 1.00MT up to 2.00MT.

Second shift or “morning” spans 2.00MT through 4.00MT.

Third shift or “day” spans 4.00MT through “noon” at 5.00MT to 6.00MT.

Fourth shift or “evening” spans 6.00MT to 8.00MT.

Fifth shift or “night” spans 8.00MT to 10.00MT.

A metric hour equals 2.4 Sol/Earth standard time hours.

A metric minute equals 2.4 Sol/Earth standard time minutes.
